VOLCANOES MEXICO BICYCLE TOUR
Manzanillo to Manzanillo.
ITINERARY
DAY 0
March 10 th. Rendezvous at hotel. Relax around the pool, we’ll welcome you with a snack and help you assemble your bike.
DAY 1
March 11th. Manzanillo to Cuyutlan. We’ll skirt around the industrial port of Manzanillo and end up biking through coconut and banana plantations. In the afternoon there is an optional tour to a turtle sanctuary and a boat ride through a huge lagoon. Our hotel is in the small Mexican beach town of Cuyutlan, - 10 mile long beach with no tourists on it. 50 km or 85 km option.
DAY 2
March 12th. Cuyutlan to Colima. We move inland today to our favourite city, Colima. We climb close to two thousand feet, but an early start will beat the heat. We’ll go through Coquimatlan scenic road. 70 km
DAY 3
March 13th. Colima to La Esperanza. Ride through farmland country road finishing in La Esperanza, where we'll spend the night in a beautiful old Hacienda. 43 km.
DAY 4
March 14th. La Esperanza to Sayula. Sayula is a very traditional Mexican town. Population approx. 34,755, known for its exquisite “cajeta” (thick syrup). Nice Spa hotel tonight and tomorrow. 72 km
DAY 5:
March 15th. Sayula. A rest day or go for a ~50 km ride to nearby towns, your choice.
DAY 6
March 16th. Sayula to San Gabriel. A short but hard day’s ride, climbing for the most part, rewarding downhill afterwards. 42 km
DAY 7
March 17th. San Gabriel to Colima. Rolling hills on the first half. Two challenging climbs today; with an average of 9% and stretches of 15% and the next one of 6% but after that 20 km descent. 112km
DAY 8
March 18th. A day trip in Colima or day off. We will ride alongside some farmer fields. Today’s ride backdrop is a 14,000 ft. active volcano. Some local riders usually join us for today’s’ ride. ~55 km
DAY 9
March 19th. Colima to Manzanillo. Ride on a very quiet back country road through back farmland and forests on the old highway to Manzanillo. Rolling hills, some climbs, we’ll go by the small town of Minatitlan, where we’ll prepare lunch for you, shuttle will be available from here. 120 km or 60 km option.
DAY 10
March 20th.. Manzanillo. You are on your own.
We'll help you board a bus or point you in the right direction. You are
responsible for your return transportation. We’ll be happy to help you
out arranging an extended stay if you wish.
