Cordoba to Cordoba.

Andalucía’s roads are a true pleasure to ride your bike in. We rode for 11 days in the spring of 2015 and we were marveled by its spectacular scenery, charming cities and wonderful people every day.
This vast and historic region is like no other; with its protected natural areas, contrasting landscapes, ancient architecture, delicious food & wine and the gentle sun-soaking olive tree hills, makes Andalucía an ideal cycling destination.
Since this special area has so much to offer, we have extended our original route to the east so we have the chance to ride in Las Alpujarras region and to explore the amazing city of Granada and its Alhambra. We will also visit the beautiful cities of Cordoba and Seville as well as some beautiful Pueblos Blancos on route. Hope that you can be part of our second cycling adventure under the unique Andalucía sky.

Our trip starts and finishes in the historic city of Cordoba, 400 kilometers south of Madrid, Spain’s beautiful capital. Several flights go into Madrid –Barajas (MAD) airport, also known as Adolfo Suarez airport, once there, the easiest is to catch a high speed train (only 2 hrs) to Cordoba.
We will rendezvous in Cordoba on April 24 & May 11. First day of riding is April 25 & May 12. Tour finishes back in Cordoba on May 10 & May 27 after breakfast.

On this tour you will have plenty of enjoyable outdoor riding days; 15 exactly, although 4 of those you can just rest and relax.
The majority of the riding will be on quiet, paved roads, there will be sections with some city traffic especially when we go in and out of Cordoba, Granada & Seville.
We average about 75 K per riding day with a total distance of approximate 850 kilometers. A couple of semi flat days on the first two days of the tour will warm us up for the next days of gentle and long (up & down) hills therefore a good level of fitness is required to enjoy the trip. See itinerary. You will have a map and a bike log each day. You are free to ride at whatever speed you feel comfortable with. Our van will transport your gear from hotel to hotel; the van doesn’t necessarily follow up behind riders but we are available every day at anytime to pick up riders if needed. All participants are expected to ride the full distance, though if your knees are sore or if your legs need a day of rest, arrangements will be made for a shuttle. Given the distances, it is best to bring (or rent) a road bike but a hybrid bike would be fine too. Bike rentals are available through bicyle stores in Cordoba. We will help you with transport logistics if bringing your own.

Rooms are booked on a double occupancy basis; if traveling solo, we will try to find you a same sex roommate, if this is not possible; we will collect 50% of the single supplement fee on the final payment; if a roommate is found we will refund you the supplement fee. Persons wishing a room to themselves may do so at their own expense. Hotel nights from April 24 through May 9 (16 nights) and May 11 through 26 (16 nights) are covered in the package.

16 breakfasts and 4 dinners are included in the package. Cyclists are on their own for other meals. Generally restaurants in Spain open late for dinner (typically after 8:30pm). When hotels allow us, we will have snacks and beverages available by late afternoon to tie us over until restaurants open in the evenings. Tap water is safe to drink and bottled water can be purchased almost everywhere, we will always carry water in the van to make sure you are well hydrated while on the road.

The average daytime temperature in April and May is between 20C to 28C high and 8C to 12C low. The average rainfall for April is 50 mm but May 36 mm; unfortunately weather can’t be predicted, best is to be prepared for a little of everything.
