About Peter Marcus
“We are outfitters,not guides.”
Peter Marcus. (February 20, 1955 - January 11th, 2008)
Dear friends and family:
Sharing and living with Peter Marcus was the most wonderful and amazing adventure I will probably ever have. I just have to say “Gracias a la vida” (thanks to life) for having made our paths cross and for let us cycle the “one love road” together.
Peter showed me the way to reach magic moments in life; I will always carry his adventurous spirit and remember the beautiful soul he was; the very same soul our beautiful daughter Camila was born with.
For now, I will keep on riding in this magnificent world, one day, my day will come and hope to join him again, in another fun “Peter’s trip”, whenever that may be.
Ana López Uriarte.
Founder and co-owner of Gabriola Cycle and Kayak Outfitters, Peter lived a life rich with friends, family, travel and community for 52 active years from February 20, 1955 until January 11th, 2008. He died peacefully at home following a brief illness.
Peter helped many people to see a world filled with possibilities, and to enjoy this incredible experience of life. He will be missed and will continue to have a lasting impact on everyone who knew him and loved him.
Thanks to Alex Matthews for writing such a wonderful article about Peter. Tribute to Peter in the April 2008 issue of WaveLength Magazine which he helped co-found in 1991.
