Camila's News
February 2011
Dear friends & family:
A year has gone by and it is time for an update, also it is time to thank
all of you for your precious friendship and support, for keeping in touch
and for your love towards us, thanks indeed.
Last February, Camila was still in grade 8 and in spite of her absences
to school due to her invaluable help on our bike trips, her final results
were: straight A’s and French class Honors, so her name made it into the
“List of Distinction”.
Now in the middle of grade 9 she is enjoying new teachers, new friends
and new classes; one of them is Spanish, she was surprised how much she
already knew, so instead of taking the class she has become a “peer tutor”.
She likes telling her friends all the answers and her friends like that
very much. Next year she hopes to challenge Spanish grade 12 test.
Another new class was “Food and Nutrition” where she learned about cooking,
they covered from bread and pizza to omelets and soups. She loves baking
and having fresh muffins for dinner made by her was very special. That
class is over but she has kept interest on the subject and scones were
a real treat the other day.
Not long ago she entered the world of “work”; she took the always available job of cleaning our house once a week; every Sunday our place looks fantastic!
Horseback riding is still her main physical activity; she keeps improving it by taking lessons with different coaches and going out for rides with her aunt Kerry. At her 4H club she is now a “senior” member and completed another year of activities. Unfortunately no basket ball for her this year; although she keeps active by using her bike during the summer and started to go out for 20 to 30 minute runs when days were longer and warmer, we are hoping for those days to return.
There is a lot more to say about her, basically it has been a good year.
Camila is going through changes at all levels and I sometimes wonder if
what is happening before my eyes would have been different if Peter would
have been physically with us, that, I will never know.
What I know is that I can feel Peter’s presence when I see her enjoying
life, when she looks happy around her friends and family, when she is
kind to me and everybody around her, when she brings joy naturally and
unintentionally because no matter how many changes she’ll go through she
will always be herself, our wonderful “little girl”.
Love to all,
Ana.
P.S.
Today I received her report card for the first half of grade 9: A’s. (again).
